From January 2018 to June 2019, we purchased a lot in the Reserve gated community of the Entrada Development and contracted for the design and construction of a new home. We had the good fortune of having Julia [Roberts] (“Julia”) as our interior designer (“designer”). She combines an artistic touch with competent management. Among the traits qualifying her as an outstanding designer, all of which we experienced, are the following: 1. She is well-organized, having taken over a business that was chaotic and turned it into a well-appointed, attractive venue in which to conduct home design decisions. 2. She was always well-prepared to focus our attention on a narrowed set of alternatives. 3. She was well-versed with the Reserve construction guidelines and could readily advise us of designs that did not qualify. 4. She was always at the time and place she committed to be. 5. She was always pleasant with vendors, contractors, suppliers, and us. 6. She was always readily responsive to our questions and concerns by phone, text, email, or meetings when necessary. 7. She was sensitive to our general preferences and helped us channel those preferences for an attractive and efficient result. Hers was an uncanny ability to anticipate our decorative design choices. 8. She was on-site on numerous occasions including planning sessions with plumber, electrician, painter, and media provider. 9. She was instrumental in choosing exterior colors and textures including stucco, metal trim, natural stonework, and lighting. 10. She brought original ideas to the fireplace surround tile and metal hearth, countertops, tile flooring, closet systems, bedroom carpet, and fixtures. 11. She directed the design of 5 sliding glass doors and window coverings resulting in a genuine “patio home” in which the outdoors can be literally invited in. In summary, having now lived in it over a year, we are delighted with our “Julia-designed home”. We enthusiastically endorse Julia to design a new home or redesign an existing one.
